Meet Dr. Claire Russell
Board Certified Family Physician
Born and raised in North Carolina Dr. Russell has dedicated her life to becoming a country doctor with the expertise and skills to care for her community. Dr. Russell holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Wake Forest University and the University of South Carolina respectively. She then completed her medical education in Virginia at Liberty University College of Medicine and completed her residency training in rural Western North Carolina as a Mountain Area Health Education Center Resident. Additionally, she received a fellowship in Rural Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Her training setting was comprised of remote, rural care with broad scope training in everything from newborn care, obstetrics, pediatrics, geriatrics, general practice, inpatient medicine, and critical care.
Dr. Russell is married to a Morehead City native, Oliver, who, along with their son, love this community and are proud to call it home.

Dr. Russell founded Clinic by the Sea to bring personalized, hometown care back to our coastal community. She believes that healing starts with a relationship with a doctor who truly knows you, and she is dedicated to supporting your family through every milestone with warmth and clinical excellence.

Dr. Russell will be accepting enrollment of new patients starting in July of 2026. Home visits and telehealth visits will be on a rolling basis until the location is ready to accept patients in October of 2026.
